Optimum, economical dewatering of sewage sludge is a key step in all types of disposal, including incineration, landfilling and agricultural soil application. In practice, having less sewage sludge to dispose of saves transport costs and lowers energy consumption for drying and burning, and thereby reduces CO₂ emissions.
